“Every Time I See You” is an expression of my relationship with my parents. The lyrics, “and every time I see you/ and every time I meet you/ and every time I greet you/ I’m alone,” provide some insight into our relationship or lack thereof. There were so many times when I would be thrilled that they were returning home for the holidays. Still, although they were physically here, they wouldn’t want to spend time together, and I felt alone.
